from his throne yesterday when two gunmen walked
into the Park Sheraton Hotel, pumped four bullets
into him as he sat in a barber chair and left him
for dead. Thus did the gangster who beat the chair
five times wind up his career of crime. 'Daily News,

American Criminal Justice System: Three Important Issues
[ send me this paper ]
12 pages in length. The American criminal justice system face myriad challenges that threaten to undermine the very policies enacted to make the penal structure work smoothly amidst the ever-expansive criminal element. Examining the problems that exist within the system finds greater attention being paid to three specific issues pertaining to incarceration: prison overcrowding, prison privatization and the increase in women convicts. The main objective of this paper is to provide a literature review of research previously accomplished in each of the three areas as a way to synthesize - via the results - how they are all part of the same problem. Bibliography lists 13 sources.

Amnesia in Criminal Psychology
[ send me this paper ]
A 10 page paper discussing claims of amnesia in criminal cases. Though there have been several cases of complete and total amnesia documented over the years, those cases are exceedingly rare. In considering amnesia in the light of criminal activity, it is the victim, rather than the criminal, who is far more likely to experience loss of memory surrounding a criminal event. Amnesia has been used as a defense in criminal prosecutions, but there is question of whether the accused have truly forgotten or otherwise repressed memory surrounding the event of which they have been charged. Research is pointing a clearer path to true assessment of the validity of many of the claims. Bibliography lists 9 sources.

An Approach to the Psychological Diagnosis of Albert Fish and Jeffrey Dahmer, Notorious Child Molesters
[ send me this paper ]
A 24 page paper analyzing the psychology of child molestation. In the more disturbing cases children are not only abused, they are abducted, sexually and otherwise physically abused, and even killed. Two of the more notorious cases of child molestation were committed by the now notorious killers Albert Fish and Jeffrey Dahmer. These killers had a similar tendency for cannibalism of their victims’ bodies as well. While a precise after-the-fact psychological analysis cannot be made of either, this paper delves into the cannibalistic aspect of these crimes in particular and emphasizes the utilization of standardized psychological methodology such as the multi-axial approach of the American Psychiatric Association's Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders (DSM IV) in attempting such a diagnosis. Bibliography lists 25 sources.
